Mom's pillows are done!  This piece of felt started out as a 36"x 72" and after fulling and putting in the washer it was 28" x13". I like the design and will do more of the same. It would also look good as a bag I think.

Ok, got to get back to work. Just wanted to show you the results.

Until tomorrow.....

So I spent the weekend in the city. Had a great seminar on Nutripuncture. Fasinating concept.
I think when I get the money I will buy the kit.
Saw and got alot of inspiration walking in the city. Spring in the air. Union Square was bustling.

Today I will work on a couple of pillows for my Mom's Birthday. I will take photos's when I am done.
So I am off...

OK, the pillow is finished! I used batting and merino very sturdy but soft. The back is a brown fabric  and some random felt sewn on the machine.

Got a great deal at Jo Ann Fabrics today. I went there to get some ribbon for the hat I have been finishing and of course there was none to be had. While leaving the store I thought to look at the purse hardware to see just what they had.

Low and behold there was a clearance on everything so I made a score on the hardware and may have to go back. Plus they had a 25% discount!! TA DA!

Now I am looking forward to making purses and bags. I just love it.
Beautiful morning in the Bronx! I am going to work on a pillow that I have had half done for along time.
Today my be it's birthday.

Have to work a little this afternoon. I must go grocery shopping and let the sun be on my face.

If I finish the pillow I will post it tonight. I will keep my fingers crossed.

Also have been working on another hat, more like a stetson. Don't know how I will finish that one.
Well lets see what today brings...

How did this all start?

I am asked all the time how I ever got involved with felting. I was in the middle of New Hampshire at an Herbal Conference. I go ever year with a very good friend of mine.

We were in between classes and decided to take a needle felting class. Now you need to know that the class was being held in a large tent in the middle of a field in Sargent Camp.

The technique was very intriging. You take roving, which is wool that has been carded and usually dyed and with a needle that has a barb on it. You used a piece of dense foam on our laps and lay the wool on top of this and made a design. We then used the needle and poked it through the wool into the foam.

This would make a piece of felt material as it was finished you pulled it apart from the foam.

Now back to the weather in New Hampshire in August. It started to rain, then pour, then the heavens opened up. Instead of an hour class, we were there for two hours. Just long enough to get hooked.

From there it has been a lovely path to wander along.

I have been to Bath Maine at a spectacular store called Halcyon where I took a class with Marianne Dubois
on nuno felting.

Joined the Northeast Feltmakers Guild, and have met some of the most talented ladies. If I can figure out how to provide links on this blog I will.

So today I just want to share how the journey began and be able to show you the work I am doing and what others are doing .

To be continued.....
